This manual is for use with the Hierarchic Dementia Scale-Revised (HDS-R).

If you have the original version of the assessment (HDS) you will need the Possibility Oriented Care manual.

The Possibility Oriented Approach is a philosophy of care for people with dementia and a framework for interpreting the results of the HDS-R, developed by Heather Freegard through the WA Dementia Training Study Centre. It assists the user in developing person-centred care plans and interventions based on their remaining cognitive abilities.
