The South Australia and Northern Territory Dementia Training Study Centre is auspiced by Alzheimer’s Australia SA , and remains the only non-University based Centre in Australia.

Our National Priority Areas are:

Advanced Behaviour Workshop
Develop, trial and disseminate a national training package for delivery by the Dementia Behaviour Management Advisory Services (DBMAS) on the importance of appropriately recognising and responding to changed behaviours with a focus on evidence based non-pharmacological and psychosocial strategies for behaviour management.

Website Redevelopment
To deliver the recommended outcomes of the Online Digital Strategy document, to achieve the core mission of DTSC with a focus on presenting a National DTSC identity and enhanced navigation system to ensure ease of access for all Users.

End of Life Dementia Care
Develop an evidence based E-Learning package for health professionals aimed at increasing the quality of care given to people with dementia during the end of life phase.

Younger Onset Dementia
To develop an educational resource to assist health professionals contribute to creating inclusive services, identify service gaps and promote care service integration for people experiencing YOD.

Will create an accessible eLearning module to equip health professionals to act as leaders in their workplaces to improve LGBTI cultural competence and provide inclusive care for LGBTI people living with dementia.

Recognising and Responding to Dementia in Indigenous Communities
Will translate relevant research findings into a comprehensive resource document, and interactive two-day workshop, for national dissemination.

Our partners include all major tertiary institutions in South Australia and the Northern Territory, as well as Aged and Community Services SA and NT, and other professionals involved in major dementia projects. Our partners provide advice on developments and activities, facilitate discussion, and assist in our collaborative achievements.
