A new suite of resources including a ‘Cultural Assessment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People’ tool has the potential to impact positively on the quality of life of Indigenous people living with dementia through better residential care. WA DTSC is piloting the resource around Australia from December 2015 to April next year. Continue reading

Dementia in Aboriginal Communities: Culturally appropriate training to support your Aboriginal clients

WA DTSC in collaboration with the Curtin University Centre for Aboriginal Studies (CAS) recently delivered their new train-the-trainer workshop for health professionals caring for Aboriginal clients with dementia and their families.

The half-day workshop promotes the use of existing resources, ‘Looking out for dementia’ and ‘Dementia learning resource for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities’ that aim to raise awareness of dementia in Aboriginal Communities.
