Projects

The NSW/ACT Dementia Training Study Centre’s key activities for 2013-2014 are:

Environmental Design: a national project providing education and consultancy for aged and healthcare services. This project has the goal of improving the lives of people with dementia and their carers by providing residential and healthcare managers, planners, architects and designers with the skills and awareness necessary to create dementia-friendly environments that maximise independence and reduce anxiety in people with dementia while assisting carers to perform their role.

Scaffolding: a national project to engage a wide variety of undergraduates in considering how they might contribute to the care of people with dementia in their careers, via a series of activities including essay competitions, work placements, scholarships and design studios for architecture and design students.

Knowledge Transfer (KT): this includes a series of Australia-wide workshops for health professionals, continued editorial support for the Australian Journal of Dementia Care, and continuation of the national KT research project.
