Overseas Qualified Nurses

A comprehensive training package which is intended to support overseas qualified nurses as they adapt to working in the Australian dementia care setting. The package includes information and worksheets for facility managers, an online program for overseas qualified nurses and training resources aimed at staff working alongside overseas qualified nurses and other staff from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia Assessment

This resource has been developed to increase health professionals’ knowledge of the use and interpretation of selected evidence-based tools for the symptoms of agitation and anxiety, apathy and wandering. This is not an exhaustive collection of available tools, but is a selection of those in common use within Australia.

If so, you will be interested in a new set of freely available and fully online dementia education resources designed by leading academics who are experts in dementia care. Funding for the development of these new resources was provided by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA).

These resources are designed to provide students and staff studying or working in multi-disciplinary areas of health with a flexible opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills in working with people who have dementia and their family carers.

The ten e-learning modules were developed by a team of experts in the field of caring for people with dementia and are designed to provide health professionals from all disciplines with an understanding of dementia and the needs of people with dementia and their family or carers.

The Vic / Tas DTSC has Royal College of Nursing, Australia (RCNA) Authorised Provider of Endorsed Courses (APEC) status – APEC number 017110001, according to approved criteria.  Each module completion attracts 15 Continuing Nurse Education (CNE) points as part of RCNA’s Life Long Learning Program (3LP).
