End of life planning and dementia

This seminar is based on Professor Cartwright’s recent paper, ‘Planning for the end of life for people with dementia.’

Research has shown that people who have completed some form of advanced care planning are more likely to receive end of life care aligned with their wishes than those who have not.

Professor Cartwright provides practical information that addresses refusal of treatment, Enduring Power of Attorney, pain control and terminal sedation.

A public forum seminar presentation by Professor Colleen Cartwright, Foundation Professor of Aged Services Director, Aged Services Unit, Southern Cross University on 19 April 2011.

Forum co-sponsored by Alzheimer’s Association WA Ltd, Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute and WA Dementia Training Study Centre.
