The Dementia Training Study Centres (DTSC) and the Dementia Collaborative Research Centres (DCRC) are excited to present a series of 2 day workshops around Australia.

Participants are invited to to register for either Day 1, Day 2, or both!  These workshops are funded by the Australian Government, therefore the participants will incur no cost.  Lunch is provided and participants will receive a certificate of attendance for each day they attend.  For more information on each of our expert presenters, please click here.

DAY ONE: Tuesday 1 March 2016

Designing for People with Dementia

Facilitated by: Ms Kirsty Bennett & Ms Terri Preece

This workshop:

  • Looks at ways the built environment can improve the daily experience of people living with dementia in acute and residential aged care settings.
  • Introduces audit tools and applies them to case studies.

Who should attend:
Facility manager, clinical & allied health managers, architects, health planners, project manager, health professionals and design consultants.


 DAY TWO: Wednesday 2 March 2016

Care Strategies for Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia

Facilitated by: Ms Kim Burns

This workshop will:

  • Increase participants awareness of evidence-based resources that outline key principles and strategies to assist in the care of people with dementia who present with behavioural and psychological symptoms.
  • Feature practical resources based on the document Behaviour Management – A guide to Good Practice: Managing Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia

Who should attend:
Those providing or managing care for people with dementia who present with responsive behaviours in residential and community aged care settings.


EACH WORKSHOP will also include a discussion on some of the specific opportunities and challenges when translating new learnings into your  work place.  This discussion will be facilitated by A/Prof Belinda Goodenough.
