Palliative Care – Short Course

Each year in Semester 2, QLD DTSC and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) offer a Short Course, Palliation in Dementia Care. The course is offered online/externally and can be undertaken at either a professional development or post-graduate level.The aim of the course is to advance participants’ knowledge and clinical skills to provide evidence-based palliative care for individuals with severe dementia and their families and carers.

The four modules of study are:

• Contextualising palliative care
• The trajectory of severe dementia
• Promoting physical care and quality of life for the person with severe dementia
• Promoting a positive culture of care
