Medication management in dementia

Medication management in dementia

Current drug therapies for the management of dementia have limited utility and efficacy and do not change the underlying course of the disease. Whilst much hope is held for the newer therapies particularly the monoclonal antibodies, to date they have failed to deliver any significant gains.

The presenter will highlight what might be done to utilise the available drug therapies in a more targeted way to achieve better outcomes for some of those at greater risk of dementia.

A more targeted approach to some of the consequences of dementia may also achieve better outcomes for some patients.

A WADTSC seminar presentation by Bruce Williamson, CoNeCT, Complex Care Coordinator Pharmacist, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, on Thursday 24 July 2014.
