The Queensland Dementia Training Study Centre recently launched a comprehensive resource for health professionals addressing the topic of dementia and sexuality.

Sexualities and Dementia – Education Resource for Health Professionals is based on national and international literature, and research by Dr Cindy Jones from Griffith University’s Centre for Health Practice Innovation.

“It became apparent that there was a real gap in the education of health professionals regarding sexualities and dementia, with no other comprehensive resource which specifically addresses the needs of this group,” says Dr Jones.

The online resource informs professionals carers in practice, and includes a core education resource for health professionals and carers, and a facilitator’s guide for trainers and workshop hosts with an accompanying powerpoint presentation to use during workshops.

Sexualities and Dementia – Education Resource for Health Professionals provides a framework to guide the development of policy and guidelines to address issues of sexual expression in care settings.

Sexualities and Dementia – Education Resource for Health Professionals is available for download for free from the Dementia Training Study Centres website. Click here to be directed to the download page.
