WA seminar, June 2011 – How to create an appropriate program for a younger person living with dementia

A WADTSC seminar presentation by Tara Stringfellow – Early Intervention Coordinator, Marlene Grogan – Mary Chester Centre Coordinator and Hannah Tebbit – Younger Onset Dementia project Coordinator from Alzheimer’s Australia WA on 15 June 2011

Current services are not always appropriate for this people with a diagnosis of Younger Onset Dementia. A younger person may be more physically and socially active in the community and yet struggle in areas of meaningful employment, raising a family, holding financial responsibility and making plans for future retirement.

Three staff members from Alzheimer’s Australia WA (AAWA), come to share their experiences in creating appropriate programs and services for people with Younger Onset Dementia such as specific services that are available, social groups and lead a discussion on creating solution to meet challenges with current models of residential respite.
