The Dementia Collaborative Research Centre: Carers and Consumers (DCRC:CC) launched a guide for carers of people with dementia in September. Getting the most out of Respite Care is presented from a carer’s perspective – for carers by carers – and seeks to assist carers’ decision-making about respite.

The guide is based on the experiences and opinions expressed in a DCRC:CC national survey of carers of people with dementia, along with input from the Alzheimer’s Australia Consumer Dementia Research Network (CDRN). It includes two cartoon-style carers’ stories, some case studies, tips and advice, and useful contacts.

The DCRC developed the guide after reviewing the survey results and recognising the potential value of the insights and observations to other carers of people with dementia.

The guide, produced with assistance of QLD DTSC, is available from the DCRC website
