Photography, art and music in dementia care

Arts, Hearts and Minds: Photography, Art and Music in Dementia Care

Cathy Greenblat’s photographic work presents a new way of looking at dementia and care. In this lecture she discusses the potential for photography to shape people’s views of dementia and those who are living with it. She argues that while visual images can be powerful learning tools, most address dementia only in terms of the losses people experience.

Her photos seek to give positive lessons about quality of life and help reduce fear and stigma surrounding dementia. Using her own photos as examples, Professor Greenblat will also discuss the role of photography, music and art in dementia care.
