A WADTSC seminar presentation by Professor Leon Flicker: WA Centre for Health and Ageing, (WACHA), Centre for Medical Research, The University of Western Australia on   9 November 2010.

  • A summary of current evidence linking the development of Alzheimer’s Disease to some vascular and lifestyle factors.
  • Many factors such as hypertension, smoking, physical activity, education, social engagement, cognitive stimulation, and diet are potentially modifiable.
  • Modification of most of these factors has other health advantages, increasing the potential benefits of modifying the individual’s lifestyle.
  • Difficulties in furthering clinical research and the need to base choices on available evidence
